I am absolutely in LOVE with this smoothie combination. This is the perfect summer smoothie recipe for your breakfast, mid-morning/afternoon snack, or as a post workout meal.

The thing I love about this is the cocoa/cacao powder totally hides the green from the spinach, and the avocado makes it so creamy and filling.

Enjoy!

Serves 1

Ingredients

Liquid Base:

  • Water or organic almond milk – +Ice to thicken

Protein 

  • 1 scoop Natural protein powder – Vanilla or Chocolate Flavoured (I recommend Balance Natural Whey, Go Good, or JSHEALTH protein – whey or plant are both fine)

Carbohydrates

  • ½ Banana

Healthy Fats

  • ¼ large Avocado (or half a small)
  • 1 tbsp Shredded coconut

Non-starchy Vegetables

  • 1 Hand full of spinach

Other

  • ½ tbs cacao powder

Garnish

  • Cacao nibs, grated dark chocolate or sprinkle of shredded coconut.

Method

  1. Simply add all ingredients together into your nutri-bullet or blender (just make sure you put the liquid in BEFORE the protein powder so it doesn’t stick to the bottom).
  2. Top with extra garnish ingredients if you prefer!
